Launching the bZ (beyond Zero) Toyota family

General info

The 2023 bZ4X is available in 4 models —2 front-wheel drive and 2 all-wheel drive-, with base prices that vary between $ 44,990 and $ 62,750.  Due to its dimensions (length: 4,690 mm; width: 1,860 mm; wheelbase: 2,850), it is somewhere between the RAV4 and the Venza.  This new electric SUV boasts sharp and precise lines that will definitely not go unnoticed when you’re on the road. 

Moreover, you will have the choice between 10 body colors, 4 of which are dual tone, and 18- to 20- inch wheels, depending on selected model.

Performance and range 

While front-wheel drive versions offer 201 horsepower, those with the AWD system provide you with 214 horsepower and a 367 kilometer range.  This range climbs to 406 kilometers for 2-wheel drive versions.  Depending on selected model, the 2023 Toyota bZ4x can reach the 0-100 km/hr in 6.9 to 7.5 seconds. 

When it comes to energy efficiency, front-wheel drive models have combined fuel consumption numbers of only 2.0 Le/100 km; for all-wheel drive versions, combined consumption numbers are 2.3 Le/100 km. 

Moreover, this SUV can be charge on a 150 kW quick charging station (level 3) and you can reach 80% charge in about 30 minutes.  These charging times climb to 11 hours on a level 2 (240V) station, whether on a private or public charging station.  You can also decide to use a domestic 120V plug to charge your bZ4X.  

Interior features 

There are numerous features found aboard this electric Toyota SUV.  Depending on selected model, you will have heated and ventilated front seats, air-conditioning, a foot activated liftgate, and several added safety features and technologies such as:

  • The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 safety package (1st model with this version);
  • The Pre-Collision system, with Low-Light Cyclist Detection, Daytime Motorcyclist Detection and Guardrail Detection;
  • Enhanced Lane Detection;
  • Detection range of the millimeter wave radar and monocular camera have been enhanced;
  • Road Sign Recognition;
  • Emergency Driver Assist, that warn other road users and immobilizes the vehicle if the driver is unconscious;
  • And much more.

Finally, depending on selected model, you could take advantage of an 8 or 12.3- inch screen, wireless cellphone charging, a navigation system, head-up display and an 800W JBL sound system, amongst other things.

Toyota has never been afraid of facing its competitors head on, and the new bZ4X is no exception to this rule.  It will be butting heads with the Mustang Mach-e, the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Kia EV6, amongst others.
